Our wonderful Volunteers Coordinator, Harpreet, is moving on to an exciting new role (great news for her!) â which means weâre now looking for someone to take on this hugely important role within ECO Action.
As you know, everything we do depends on volunteers. And as we evolve â especially with changes to how we run our Hub â supporting, connecting and growing our volunteer community is more important than ever.
This role sits right at the heart of ECO Action. Itâs about welcoming new people, helping them find their place, and keeping our volunteer community active, informed and connected.
Weâll make sure thereâs a smooth handover from Harpreet, so youâll be well supported stepping in.
If you enjoy connecting people, organising things, and being part of a friendly, purpose-driven team â this could be a great fit.
ECO Action are a grassroots movement to inspire and empower our community to create a greener, healthier future within our borough.
Weâre looking for someone who can help bring that energy into local events across the community.
Weâre seeking an Event Coordinator â a volunteer who can coordinate others running events, organise and support our presence at community events, helping us reach more people and share our mission.
What Youâll Do – As our Event Coordinator, youâll help us coordinate engaging, high-impact experiences that showcase ECO Action. Youâll play a key role by:
Working with volunteers (via our WhatsApp group) to help them run events
Coordinating our participation in local events, fairs, markets, and festivals

Aligning logistics: stall or room bookings, materials, timings, volunteer rotas
Creating simple, engaging event ideas â from mini-workshops to talks
We’re looking for someone to join our team with marketing & communications capabilities… could that be you?
We’re busy with marketing outreach on social-media, email-newsletter and our website. Our marketing team work well – but now we need someone to help us grow more across all these platforms and with great communications!
We’re looking for someone with ‘any’ level of marketing skills to join our volunteer marketing team. If you’ve an interest in climate & the environment, want to ‘do something that makes a difference’, have some marketing skills & capability you want to build on, we’d love to talk to you.
Come into the Hub, reach out to us here, or come to one of our events and see us! We’re looking forward to talking with you! The ECO Action Marketing Team.
Weâre reaching out to better understand the kinds of events that matter most to you. Weâre planning future activities focused on reducing carbon emissions and increasing nature, and your input is vital to help us make them engaging, relevant, and impactful.
Your feedback will guide the types of events we organiseâwhether it’s workshops, talks, or practical sessionsâall aimed at tackling the climate crisis and enhancing nature in our communities. The survey only takes 3-5 minutes, and your views will directly shape what happens next.
At ECO Action, we believe real impact comes when personal actions are matched with collective effort. Thatâs why we encourage everyone to Take Action across four areas:
Personal â follow a Personal Action Plan
Communicate â talk to family and friends
Community â volunteer locally
National â demand bigger changes from those in power
Weâre now looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to lead the charge in that fourth area â National Action.
What Youâll Do
As National Action Coordinator, youâll help local people amplify their voices and influence national decisions. Your role includes:
đč Petition & Campaign Coordination
Gather and maintain a list of credible national petitions (e.g. from Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, The Climate Coalition)
Choose and highlight the most urgent and impactful ones
Store and share them with our supporters via our Google Drive
Identify Climate or Nature Bills due to be debated in Parliament
Encourage our community to contact their MP and sign key petitions
đč Collaborate with National Organisations
Liaise with groups like Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth about any national campaigns happening locally
Let our volunteer base know how they can get involved in actions such as leafleting or door-knocking
đč Engage Local Politicians
Help us connect more regularly with local MPs, especially Josh Reynolds (Maidenhead) and Jack Rankin (Windsor), and others as appropriate
Explore working with local Labour or other party groups to influence policy
Look for opportunities to encourage political parties to go further and faster for Climate and Nature
What Youâll Bring
Passion for Climate and Nature
Good organisational skills
Confidence with online tools (e.g. Google Drive, email)
Ability to communicate with people and inspire action
You donât need to be a policy expert â just someone who cares and is ready to help others speak up.
Why It Matters
National decisions shape the future of our planet. As National Action Coordinator, youâll play a crucial role in empowering local voices to influence national policy â and in doing so, help protect the climate and restore nature for generations to come.

One of our ECO Action Team has recently returned from a trip from the UK to Denmark by train! An experienced rail traveller, they prefer trains to planes because they are committed to reducing their carbon footprint. and they enjoy the journey as part of the holiday!
Have a read of their experiences in the document below. It might give you idea and motivation to change the way you travel – and replace the plane with the train!
Our Journey
For our 2024 holiday we wanted to visit family in Denmark. The first thing we did was consult the excellent âman at seat 61â (www.seat61.com) for various sustainable options on how to get to Denmark. Rather than an early start for the Eurostar we decided to try the overnight Stena ferry from Harwich. We understand that Stena is pretty good on the sustainable front.
Â
Most of our Danish family live in Aarhus, so that was our first destination. They wanted to take us to their summer house on the tiny island of Stryno. After that we would want a train to Copenhagen to see more relations and have two days exploring that city. Then returning via Hamburg and the Eurostar from Brussels.
Next we chose somewhere to stop enroute to explore a new place. Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Hanover or Hamburg? And on the way back? Hamburg looked to be so interesting we decided to stop there on both journeys including a day excursion to Stade, about 1 hour from Hamburg, as it looked stunning with 17th century houses built during the prosperous Hanseatic period.
So, how did we do and what was it like?
The Ferry: It was a comfortable crossing with helpful staff and we had a nice cabin with a free mini-bar! I was able to watch the Wimbledon Ladies Doubles on the TV which pleased me greatly. We had a good breakfast and arrived in the Netherlands on time at 8am. Changing trains in Amsterdam we had time for a coffee overlooking the canal and cyclists (own cycle lane!).
Hamburg: an impressive train station with a welcoming committee sitting on the 1st floor balcony! Our family had come to meet us!
A large city but very attractive, built on the river Elbe with a buzzing port area (great to walk along and have a cruise around it which included the old renovated warehouse area).
They have a newish, spectacular Elbphilharmonie building dominating the port area.
Our relations had enthused about Hamburgâs Miniature Wonderland so on our return trip we visited and discovered that it is similar to our local Bekonscot but indoors and enormous! It was stunning and we spent several hours looking at places we have visited and the miniature interpretation of them.Â
There was also a Greenpeace boat approaching a Russian ship near the Antarctic â which ticked the box for us! Also in Hamburg I was very pleased to find an exhibition of the famous photographer Henri CartierâBresson whom I admire.
Stade: even better than expected!
Trains: all worked as expected. The station platform displays were helpful to inform where to board when you have seat reservations.
The scenery isnât as spectacular as other train journeys weâve done such as through the Alps, but our return train from Copenhagen to Hamburg goes over a very long bridge between Jutland and Funen.
Next year we are thinking about travelling to Croatia for two weeks, by train of course!
We’ve been pushing marketing outreach on social-media, email-newsletter and our website for months. Our marketing team work well – but now we need someone to help us grow more: social / digital marketing, newsletters and all other communications!.
We’re looking for someone with ‘any’ level of marketing skills to join our volunteer team. Could that be you?
If you’ve an interest in climate & the environment, want to ‘do something that makes a difference’ and have even some marketing skills & capability we’d love to talk to you. Come into the Hub, reach out to us here, or come to one of our events and see us!
